Brows are a crucial part of the makeup process. They are what frame our face,
and can make the appearance of our eyes look bigger dependant on how we shape them.
This important step can often be tricky, particularly if there's not much natural brow
there to start with. But fear not, here are 5 simple steps to creating a wow brow.
Step 1 - Map your shape. There's a simple step for this that can make all the difference.
Using the end of a makeup brush, hold the it against the inside of one brow so that the other end
meets the outer part of your nostril, in a vertical line. This will show you where your brow should
ideally start. Make a marking with a brow pencil next to the tip of the brush touching the inner
part of your brow.
To find the arch of your brow, keep the brush pressed against your nostril and twist like
the hand of a clock until the brush is at an angle, going through the centre of your pupil.
Make your marking, and this is where your arch will be.
Lastly, to mark the tail of your brow, using the same method, move the brush round again a little more until the end of the brush meets the corner of your eye. This will show you where to finish your brow. Once you've made all your markings and repeated onto the other brow, it's time to fill in!
Step 2 - This step is entirely down to preference, but these are the products I would personally recommend using for ease. Firstly, taking your pencil, and lets play dot to dot. Connect all of yours dots together, and this will give you your shape. You may then wish to take a pomade to fill your brow in further, if you don't find that the pencil has done this enough for you.
Step 3 - Build your brow up. Now you've connected your dots, if you don't have a lot of brow hair naturally, you may be seeing a bit of a thin line that's not quite the vibe you were after.
Don't panic, we can build on this. Take your eyebrow pencil (the thinner the better) and use the
hair stroke method.
Rather than using the pencil to 'draw' and risk creating a harsh shape, ease off on pressure when holding the pencil between your fingers. Now this part may taking some practice, but in any spaces you see, use the pencil in a soft upward flicking motion, to make hair like strokes. Use this technique throughout the whole of your brow to create soft lines, to create
a natural yet fuller looking brow.
Step 4 - Fluff it up. Even if you don't have a lot of brow hair, brow gel can be your best friend to help create the illusion you have naturally fluffy brows! Take a brow gel, particularly one that promotes strong hold, and run the brush of the product against the natural direction of the brow hairs. This will first help to ensure each hair is picked up and coated with the gel. Then, brush the brows back in the direction of the natural hair growth whilst also fluffing them upwards a little.
This will make the brows look fluffier and fuller, and help to set your brow product underneath in place all day.
Step 5 - Sharpen up! Depending on which look you're wanting to achieve, this step may not be necessary, but personally I think it makes a huge difference. Take concealer or eyeshadow primer, and on a flat brush, use this to trace the underneath of the brow so that you are underlining the brow. Once you've carefully done this, brush the remaining product down onto the brow bone and blend out so there are no lines or collected product. You may then wish to add a little highlighter after this to the brow bone also, just to accentuate them further. You can also do this step above the brow also if you are looking for more of a sharper defined brow look.
Introduce these steps into your brow routine and before you know it, you'll be a pro!
